Skill Development

Athletic Development

Athletic Development

The on ice portion of the program is designed to learn and perfect new skills. 


Athletes will be taught how to perform a skill, and how to recognize when, why and how they would utilize it in a game situation. 


Skill Development focuses include:


  • stride (fwd/bwd) 
  • acceleration 
  • change of direction 
  • agility 
  • puck control 
  • shooting 
  • evasiveness

The off ice portion of the program has been designed to make athletes stronger, more powerful, more agile and more resilient on the ice. 


Athletes will train in a competitive and supportive training environment. 


Off ice focuses include: 


  • mechanics and technique
  • core strength and balance
  • mobility 
  • strength, power and speed development 
  • conditioning 







Game IQ

Game IQ

This portion of the program will focus on reading the game. There will be a major focus on how you can use the skills you have practiced to benefit you and your team in a game situation. 


Athletes will develop their game IQ by: 


  • practicing using the skills learned at game speed in purposeful small area games and drills
  • understanding and disc

Athletes will develop their game IQ by: 


  • practicing using the skills learned at game speed in purposeful small area games and drills
  • understanding and discussing options in various game situations both offensively and defensively (ie. 2v2, 2v1, 1v0)
